About our Service. Vigil Security keyholding is strategically
based as keyholder near Tower Bridge covering London postcode
areas. Vigil Security Management Limited operates this
keyholding and alarm response service. It is a shared
commercial response service and operates a policy of “first
come, first served”.
PERSONNEL
Vigil Security personnel are fully equipped and uniformed
and operate in liveried vehicles. All security officers
are security screened, to at least British Standards requirements
and hold a current SIA licence. Vigil holds Approved Contractor
Status for keyholding from the Security Industry Authority

KEY SECURITY
The safe keeping and constant security tracking of customer’s
keys are fundamental to Vigil keyholding. Barcodes, encrypted
computer systems, periodically changed customer passwords
and rigorously maintained signature trails are employed
to combine security with swift availability when burglar
alarms are activated. In order to comply with the scope
of our ISO accreditation, customer keys are stored in
accordance with BS7984:2001 Keyholding & Alarm Response,
which means that keys are kept in a sealed pouch and secured
by means of a numbered non-reusable seal with the seal
number recorded in the key register. The sealed pouch
is then locked in a cabinet solely for that purpose and
the cabinet is within our secure communications and control
room near Tower Bridge, London with restricted access.
RESPONSE & INTRUDER ALARM RE-SETS
Upon advice of an intruder alarm activation a Vigil Keyholding
operative will inspect the exterior of your premises for
signs of forced entry. If a criminal intrusion is suspected
they will call the police and await their arrival. If
no such signs are evident they will enter the premises,
silence the burglar alarm and carry out an inspection
of the property, preparing a report on their findings.
If clearly a false alarm and if authorised to do so they
will re-set the intruder alarm and re-secure the premises.
If an engineer is required Vigil will liaise with your
alarm company to meet the engineer on-site.
SITE SURVEYS
All contracts
are conditional upon Vigil Security carrying out a site
survey and being fully advised of any subsequent structural
changes, the fitting of new or additional locks or changes
of use in any part of the premises. our checklist
details what you will require before our first meeting.
LOCKING & UNLOCKING
24/7 Keyholding & alarm response with scheduled opening
& closing of premises. Unlocking & locking of
buildings & control of contractors by SIA approved
and licensed staff.
RESPONSE TIMES
1. Upon advice of alarm activation by the alarm receiving
centre to the Vigil Control Room, the duty controller
will record the details of the reported activation in
the control room log – approx 4 minutes since alarm
activation
2. Duty controller will contact the available Patrol Officer
by mobile telephone and pass on details of the activation
– approx 6 minutes since alarm activation
3. The service is shared and assuming no other alarm activations
are outstanding, the Patrol Officer will immediately return
to the Control Room and enter the secure room where keys
are stored – approximately 15 minutes since alarm
activation
4. The patrol officer will unlock the key cabinet, extract
the relevant key pouch, and check the number of the seal
against the number recorded in the key register and record
any variances in the remarks column. The Patrol Officer
will enter his/her signature in the registers showing
date and time of removal of keys – approx 20 minutes
since alarm activation
5. The Patrol Officer will then proceed immediately to
site
The subsequent arrival time at site will be subject to
all of the normal vagaries of driving a vehicle around
London. However, we are generally on site within about
40 minutes and almost always within one hour.
